Q: What have you been up to since retirement?
A: I am completing my second manuscript, My Life in Catholic Education (Working Title), and working on an updated revision of my first book, The Silent Sentinel. This will detail my high school students work on the church.
Q: When is My Life in the Classroom and Studio: A Teacher's Memoir (Working Title) coming out?
A. It is expected in Fall 2024.
Q: What inspired you to write about the San Pablo de Cabagan Church?
A: This church was the church of my wife, Natividad, and when I saw the photograph of it during fundraising I knew I had to learn everything I could about it.
Q: What made the San Pablo brick so strong and colorful?
A: It remains a secret to this very day but learn about the efforts made to try to determine its manufacturing process.
Q: Why is St. Paul the Apostle Church—"the laboratory” in terms of the St. Mathias Church?
A: Historians learned from the construction of the St. Paul Church techniques useful in the construction of the St. Mathias Church, particularly in the firing of the bricks.
Q: Who sacrificed his life in order to protect the people of the Cagayan Valley from harm during WWII?
A: Father Justo Manuel when he refused to gather up all of the townspeople by order of the Imperial Japanese.
